Our award-winning chapter first came to South Carolina in 1958 and was rechartered on April 21, 2007. We are now a strong chapter of over one hundred members with over 240,000 members worldwide. Alpha Kappa Psi is open to all majors, and it is the premier developer of principled business leaders. The fraternity promotes opportunities to learn career-specific knowledge as well as leadership skills, including organization, time management, networking, and professionalism. By embodying our core values of brotherhood, integrity, service, unity and knowledge, we strive to achieve personal, professional and business success. There are a variety of local and national programs, workshops, and activities that we introduce to enhance these business skills. Professional events include university events as well as Columbia-area events, such as IgniteSC, which brought together local leaders and business professionals in Columbia. We also host various professional speakers throughout each semester. Our alumni are an important part of who we are as a chapter. To keep in touch, we host alumni events including our Mock Interviews and Alumni Tailgate in the fall. With successful alumni currently working for prestigious companies such as Wells Fargo, PwC, IBM, Intel, Amazon, Tesla, Boeing, and Deloitte, it is evident that Alpha Kappa Psi is recognized as the premier developer of principled business leaders and prepares its members for future professional success. Through our Mentor-Mentee Program, resume and LinkedIn workshops, mock interviews and student-run consulting firm, we have led our graduates to a repeated 100% job placement rate after graduation along with 100% of members having at least one internship prior to graduation. While professionalism is the underlying principle that serves as the foundation of our organization, we consider ourselves more than just a professional organization; we are truly a network of friends that support the goals of one another while surrounding ourselves with people of different areas of study and passions. To match each of our diverse interests, the fraternity also conducts a variety of service, alumni, social and fundraising events. Service events include annual participation in Relay for Life and Dance Marathon as well as volunteer work in the Columbia community through Ezekiel Ministries, Palmetto Place and other opportunities. Social events include our Brotherhood Retreat, Brooklyn Bridge Formal, Yellow Rose Semi-Formal, Business Fraternity Mixers and more. Brothers work in committees to plan and execute all of these events! Alpha Kappa Psi has been the most influential organization I've been a part of throughout my college journey. It's given me the community and skills I need to succeed in any industry and form long-lasting relationships with people from all walks of life. Ever since I became a brother my freshman year, I knew I wanted to give back to this amazing organization, and I decided there was no better way for me to do that than to run for the position of President. I'm very excited about the opportunities and relationships that will come with this role, as well as the leadership experience that will shape my future professional career. |
