AKPsi Pushed Me Out of My Comfort Zone

This semester I am in Charlotte, North Carolina,  interning for Grant Thornton LLC. I can honestly say that I wouldn't  be here if it were not for Alpha Kappa Psi.

I am in my second week of my internship and have been receiving feedback about myself when I went through interviews. Many of my interviewers mentioned my strength in holding a conversation. As someone who is naturally shy and super uncomfortable with speaking in front of people, I would have never guessed that talking would have been a strength of mine.
Starting with Day 1 in Rush, AKPsi helps brothers and hopeful rushees become comfortable with conversing with unfamiliar people. Whether you are introducing yourself to random people at rush, interviewing your brothers, or introducing yourself to professionals, AKPsi will constantly push you out of your comfort zone.

Outside of my new-found strength in speaking, Alpha Kappa Psi is full of students just as motivated as me to get job experience. I have had constant support from brothers including people passing on internship/ job opportunities, brothers looking over my resume, and helping me refine interview skills. Alpha Kappa Psi has not only supplied me with useful professional skills to gain a career but also has provided me with lifelong friends and mentors to bounce every and anything off of.

I am really scared to get out of my comfort zone. I have started to enter the life of unemployment. I am a recent graduate and I still do not know what I want to do in life. I am still terrified of what the world is. I always get paralyzed whenever I think about the future. I hope that I can change for the better, because it is really hard to keep on living like this, trust me it is.
